Updates

As we approach the Amateur Radio Expo2007 here are some updates on what we have accomplished so far:

  • We have confirmed the space and I returned the contract to the fair
  • Icom is sending a set of DStar demo radios and literature to support us
  • HRO Burbank is lending a Icom 756pro3 for the first weekend to use as the special event station and for the following 3 weekends we will have an IC 7800 at that station
  • Cathy has gotten us more of our signature green cloth for table tops
  • Scotty has worked out announcements for the fair people to use over the pa system and is also working at the TRW swapmeet to promote the Expo and she typeset and did layout work for our information posters
  • Comet is loaning the expo a base antenna for the special event station
  • Satern is helping us recruit more volunteers for staffing (especially the first weekend)
  • K6CHE the Long Beach mobile cp will be available for all the weekends of the Expo
  • LA County DCS is working with us to have a presence on the street every weekend of the expo as well
  • Tri County will be showcasing IRLP and will help with the antenna display
  • We would like to welcome the Keller Peak Repeater Association into the Expo, look for them in a booth next to Satern on the first weekend of the expo.
  • Burbank Fire Dept is helping out the expo by lending us some shade
  • Carl Gardenias and Phineas Icenbice are getting us ARRL information packets to give out at the fair as well

Ken Chafin, W6CPA and Alvin Banman, W6EKZ have volunteered to act as our bookkeepers. And any checks or donations should be made out to the Mountain Repeater Association with the memo line to read Amateur Radio Expo 2007. The repeater Association is a designated 501c3 organization. All donations through the website will be turned in to Ken and Alvin who will then disperse the money as receipts for authorized purchases are turned in.

Please remember to send me the first name and call (if a Ham) of all those willing to act as exhibitors on the street so that I can start making the badges for this year. I need table dimensions so I can ensure that we have enough green cloth for all the booths. And MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL spread the word everywhere you go that it is once again time for the annual Amateur Radio Expo 2007.
